Free AC Replacement Quote and Site Visit
Frosty’s AC Installation Quote is free of charge and includes a site visit to collect data. We will visit your home or business to investigate building structure and retrieve pre-install information to determine the new AC system size and define the AC Installation work effort. The basic rule-thumb for rough sizing of an AC system is 1 ton will cool approximately 600 square feet of living space. A one-ton air conditioner is rated at 12,000 BTU per hour. We use this as a starting point.
For example, a 2,500 square feet home will have a rough AC sizing of 4 tons. This 4 tons number is adjusted to account for thermal leakage of the internal building envelope based on types of construction materials, insulation thickness, type and number of windows, number of stories, ceiling heights, outside tree coverage, etc.
Aside from thermal leakage to the outside, new AC replacements must connect with an aging duct structure. In most cases, duct leaks can account for as much a 40% of cold air loss. Our AC installation tasks include ductwork inspection and repair any holes, gaps, or open seams around connections to the Air handler. We use metallic foil tape and Duct Mastic to seal the ductwork.
The labor cost for the entire AC installation and the price for materials & parts for the AC infrastructure are calculated from the information collected. The data gathered from our site visit will be the factual basis to determine the AC system capacity needed and allow Frosty’s to develop an AC Replacement Proposal with a single comprehensive price for the system and the complete installation.
After our AC Replacement, we highly recommend to our customers to have a TECO Energy Audit that will provide a general inspection of the ductwork for tears and openings. If warranted, TECO will advise their Ductwork Program to seal all the leaks and minimize future leaks and will save you money on annual heating and cooling costs. The cost of the Ductwork Program is usually $80 without extensive repairs.
